Format Conversion
Configurable Up, Down, and Cross converters are
used in broadcast and post-production environments. They can upconvert
SD (Standard Definition) signals into HD, downconvert HD signals
to SD, change formats within their respective SD or HD domains,
and perform Format and Aspect Ratio Conversion on both SD and
HD signals. Converters typically have SDI and HD-SDI inputs/outputs.
Format converter development can be greatly simplified
by implementing LOGIC’s Video Memories
for frame manipulation. The memories’ ease of use and addressing
flexibility/power offload costly and time consuming memory controller
work. Typical frame buffering that occur in format conversion
include frame rate adjustments, interlacing/de-interlacing, and
frame synchronization.
